“Our People Make Our Firm the Special Place That It Is”
Triangle Business Journal names Smith Anderson as a 2021 “Best Places to Work”
For the second year in a row Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) has selected Smith Anderson as a Best Places to Work award winner. The award recognizes the most admired workplaces in the Triangle and is measured by employee feedback regarding the direction of the business, management effectiveness, and level of employee engagement, culture, work/life balance, pay and benefits. Smith Anderson also earned high marks in team effectiveness, trust among co-workers and employees' engagement in their work.
“I have always believed that Smith Anderson is the best place to work, and it is wonderful to have that belief reinforced through the resounding voices of our Smith Anderson family members,” said Byron Kirkland, Smith Anderson’s managing partner. “Unequivocally, our people make our firm the special place that it is.”
Triangle Business Journal named the winners based on an employee survey conducted by a human resources company that uses software to gauge employee satisfaction. Companies must meet a threshold in employee survey participation – a percentage that varies based upon the size of the company – for the honor.
As in any “best” workplace, communication is key, and Smith Anderson has worked judiciously to ensure its people are connected with one another and have had excellent health and safety resources during the pandemic.
Diversity and inclusion are pillars of Smith Anderson’s strategic plan. As a leading firm with a significant public profile in North Carolina and beyond, Smith Anderson recognizes that it plays a pivotal role as a voice of change and influence, and we take this charge seriously. The firm has long had policies, practices and strategies in place to address diversity, inclusion and racial injustice both inside and outside of the firm through our D&I Committee and firm leadership (including our external racial injustice statement released last summer). We are proud that the Wake County Bar Association and North Carolina Lawyers Weekly each recently presented Smith Anderson with awards in recognition of our commitment to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Triangle Business Journal will feature Smith Anderson and the other Best Places to Work award winners in its Aug. 27 edition.
