‘NC Firm of the Year’ for Litigation Awarded To Smith Anderson
Smith Anderson has won the “North Carolina Firm of
the Year” award presented by Benchmark Litigation at its annual U.S. Awards ceremony held in New York City on February 27, 2020. The Awards recognize the country’s most distinguished litigators and law firms for their business litigation work over the past twelve months. Benchmark Litigation is the only publication on the market to focus exclusively on litigation and disputes in the Unites States.
Smith Anderson’s Litigation practice team is known for its trial experience in high-stakes business disputes across various areas of law and industries. Their extensive experience includes advising on complex commercial contracts, shareholder actions, intellectual property, real estate development and construction disputes, and representation of healthcare entities and professionals, corporate policyholders in insurance-related disputes, and major manufacturers in product liability and tort actions – which are often class-action based.
According to the guide, winners are viewed as the dominant players on a state level, are most often retained as local counsel, and offer a proven bench of local stars. Award shortlist nominees were chosen based upon a six month research cycle that consists of extensive interviews with litigators, clients and dispute resolution specialists, with a winner chosen based upon final interviews with key leaders in certain areas in both the private practice and in-house capacities.
"This is an incredible honor for our firm made possible by the remarkable collective work of all of our firm’s litigators and their exceptional client service,” said Smith Anderson Managing Partner Byron Kirkland. “We are proud to receive this prestigious award and are honored to be recognized in business litigation on a statewide level.”
