Overview
Kara Weishaar is the Director of Government Relations and Association Management at Smith Anderson. She serves as Executive Director for the North Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists and the North Carolina Travel and Tourism Coalition. In these roles, Kara manages the two associations by coordinating membership, planning annual meetings/conferences and advocating on behalf of their interests with officials at the legislative and executive branches. She also lobbies on behalf of other healthcare and energy clients.
Prior to working at Smith Anderson, Kara spent nine years in Washington, D.C. serving as a staffer in the U.S. Senate.
Kara is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and lives in Raleigh with her husband and three sons.
