Overview

Dave Johnson is a member of the firm’s Finance and Mergers & Acquisitions practice groups. He focuses his practice on sponsor finance, mezzanine finance and venture debt, along with a broad range of other commercial lending transactions. He has experience representing banking institutions and private equity firms in both debt and equity financings, including both senior and subordinated debt and asset-based financing. He also represents both buyers and sellers in mergers, stock purchases and asset sales.

Prior to joining Smith Anderson, Dave worked for three years in search engine and social media marketing, implementing and analyzing advertising campaigns for startup and midmarket clients across Google, Facebook and other web platforms. In his free time, Dave enjoys running, cooking, live music and spending time with his wife, Katie.

  • Represented a North Carolina mutual insurance holding company in its merger with a Minnesota mutual insurance holding company, combining two of the nation’s leading providers of medical professional liability insurance in the first-ever merger by a North Carolina-domiciled mutual insurance holding company, resulting in a combined company with over $2 billion in consolidated assets.
  • Represented client, as borrower, in closing a $100,000,000 term loan facility used to partially fund the purchase of a public company.
