Smith Anderson Lawyers Mark Ash, Carl Patterson and Chris Smith Participate at the Complex Litigation in the N.C. Business Court Program hosted by the NCBA and NCADA

On Friday, May 11th, the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section and the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA) jointly hosted a comprehensive program on Complex Litigation in the N.C. Business Court. The interactive and well-attended program provided attendees with practical information designed to understand how to practice before this court.

The program, presented as part of the NCBA Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section Annual Meeting, was planned and facilitated by a select group of prominent commercial litigators in the State including from Smith Anderson. Carl Patterson, chair of Smith Anderson's Commercial Litigation team, moderated a practical and informative "All-Star" Panel Discussion: Litigating Complex Cases in the Business Court. Mark Ash presented a session on E-Discovery in the Business Court-Recent Decisions which gave an overview of recent court decisions setting the trend in this area. Chris Smith, who chairs NCADA's Commercial Litigation Section, served as a co-planner of the program.

Additional topics presented during the full-day program include Why Do We Have a Business Court?; How Do I Practice Before the Business Court?; The Jurisprudence of the Business Court; Mediating Complex Cases in the Business Court; and Jury Issues Unique to Complex Business Cases.
