Triangle Business Journal (TBJ) turned to mergers and acquisitions attorney Tim Goettel to share his insights on the state of M&A in the region. In the story “Deals Pulse Picking Up,” Tim said that despite national trends, the Triangle continues to see robust M&A activity, largely due to companies moving to the area.

With 71 deals totaling $7.1 billion so far in 2024, the Triangle has outpaced Charlotte in volume, according to TBJ. And those in the M&A business in the Triangle say there are many factors — including the recent interest rate changes and pent-up demand from those who’ve waited on the sidelines — leading them to believe that M&A activity will increase.

"Certainly haven’t fallen off a cliff around here," Tim said.

Tim handles complex acquisitions and divestitures across a range of industries, advises clients on significant corporate governance matters and represents issuers in public and private offering and financing transactions. He has been recognized in Chambers USA for Corporate/M&A every year since 2008. The Best Lawyers in America® has recognized Tim in Corporate and Mergers and Acquisitions law every year since 2012.
