Smith Anderson Strengthens Its Data Privacy Team With Addition of Partner David Senter

An accomplished data privacy attorney, David Senter joins Smith Anderson as a partner, extending the firm’s data privacy capabilities alongside the firm’s leading Health Care, Technology Transactions and Intellectual Property practices.

David’s prior leadership roles include serving as a law firm partner, as well as a hybrid role as the Interim Associate Compliance Officer and Director of Privacy of an academic medical center in North Carolina. David has also served in leadership for the Health Care Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association.

The firm’s Data Privacy and Security practice counsels clients in regulatory compliance, development of policies and procedures, data incidents and data breach response, cybersecurity investigations, privacy and data security disputes, risk management and corporate transactions that involve data transfer. As leader of the practice, David brings a unique business perspective with his extensive experience overseeing privacy and security compliance matters and advising clients on day-to-day emergent issues.

David is certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC®) and advises technology companies and healthcare providers on all matters pertaining to privacy and data security, including contract review and negotiation, breach investigation, notification and reporting, and compliance with state, federal and foreign privacy and data security laws such as HIPAA, FERPA, CCPA, GDPR and PIPL. He is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the Wake Forest University School of Law.
