North Carolina Lawyers Weekly Names Smith Anderson Attorney Jim Wrenn to Health Care Power List
North Carolina Lawyers Weekly has named Jim Wrenn to its 2023 Health Care Power List, which recognizes the top health care attorneys in North Carolina.
Jim began his legal career in rural North Carolina, where part of his practice focused on representing the local hospital and other health care providers. Jim is a business attorney who now serves as general counsel for numerous health care providers, businesses, governmental entities and nonprofit organizations.
Jim observes that having viable hospitals and other health care providers outside of major urban centers not only benefits access to health care, but also boosts economic development in rural settings, adding that the consolidation of health care systems and its impact on rural providers is a pressing issue.
In his capacity as general counsel, Jim provides his clients with the legal advice necessary to comply with their legal obligations and position themselves to meet their goals and objectives. He frequently finds himself providing counsel on issues related to corporate governance, health care regulations, human resources, environmental compliance, contracting (including meeting state and federal contracting requirements), taxation, economic development, litigation, governmental relations and internal investigations.
Jim also regularly represents clients in connection with the acquisition and sale of businesses, particularly in the healthcare field. Jim also serves as a registered lobbyist for several governmental, non-profit and health care organizations.
