bioMASON Producing Environmentally Kind Bricks That are Revolutionizing the Building and Construction Industry—Receives $1.5 Million Investment

bioMASON recently received a $1.5 million investment from Acorn Innovestments.

bioMASON was also profiled in an Inc.com article as part of Inc.’s 2016 Best Industries report. According to the article, bioMASON is the first company of its kind and “grows” bricks and masonry by using sand with microorganisms to engage in a process similar to how coral is created. The finished product is as durable as standard clay bricks and can be used in construction.

The article explained that traditional bricks are made of clay and need to be fired in kilns at 2,000 degrees for multiple days, producing carbon emissions that are detrimental to the environment. With its biologically controlled structural cement, bioMASON seeks to eliminate carbon emissions, decrease the reliance on natural fossil fuels and reduce waste in manufacturing.

Smith Anderson lawyers Merrill Mason, Miranda Miller and Matt Lenora have advised bioMASON since March 2012.
