Smith Anderson partner Mike Weddington appointed Chair of the State Bar Board of Legal Specialization
At the recent quarterly meeting of The North Carolina State Bar Council, Smith Anderson partner Mike Weddington was appointed Chair of the State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. This appointment took place July 18, 2008.
The North Carolina State Bar is the State agency responsible for regulating for the practice of law in North Carolina and all persons holding a license to practice law in the State are members of the State Bar. The Board of Legal Specialization is responsible for the operation of the Plan of Legal Specialization adopted by the State Bar Council, including recommendations to the Council for the designation of areas of legal practice in which certificates of specialty may be granted, the establishment of standards for the certification of specialists, and the approval of applicants for certification as specialists.
Mr. Weddington has been a member of the Board of Legal Specialization for the past six years, serving most recently as Vice Chair of the Board. In addition to his role as Chair of the Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Weddington also currently serves as Chair of the Administration of Justice Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Wake County Bar Association and its committees dealing with attorney-client fee disputes and lawyer grievances. Mr. Weddington’s practices focuses on commercial litigation, representation of licensed professionals in disciplinary and licensing matters, alternative dispute resolution and appellate advocacy.
