Smith Anderson Welcomes Four Lawyers to the Firm Partnership
Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P. (Smith Anderson) is pleased to announce the election of the following lawyers to the Firm's partnership, effective January 1, 2009. Collectively, the new partners include lawyers who have practiced exclusively in North Carolina as well as in major metropolitan areas outside of North Carolina; and lawyers with a wide range of transaction, litigation and counseling experience. This continues Smith Anderson's focus and tradition of attracting and retaining lawyers with diverse backgrounds and experience to serve the complex and changing needs of Firm clients.
Cliff Brinson, a graduate of Yale Law School, practices in the areas of contract disputes and commercial litigation, corporate and securities litigation and appellate advocacy. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Brinson was a law clerk for the Hon. Gerald B. Tjoflat of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Brad Daves has substantial experience in areas of commercial real estate, commercial leasing, air quality, soil and groundwater contamination, water quality and wetlands law, renewable energy and utility-related environmental concerns. Mr. Daves is a graduate of UNC-CH Law School and received his B.S. degree from North Carolina State University in Environmental Engineering.
Jackson Moore joined Smith Anderson in 2001 after practicing commercial litigation for four years at Gardere Wynne Sewell, L.L.P. in Houston, Texas. A Duke University Law School graduate, Mr. Moore has broad experience in all types of business-related litigation and has substantial alternative dispute resolution experience.
John Therien focuses his practice on technology licensing and collaborations, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, biotech and other life sciences-related transactions. Prior to joining Smith Anderson, Mr. Therien practiced at Ropes & Gray L.L..P in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Therien is a graduate of the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley and holds an undergraduate degree in biochemical sciences from Harvard College.
