Smith Anderson Sponsors Event Honoring First Women Attorneys
Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, is proud to have sponsored The North Carolina Bar Association Committee on Women in the Profession’s March 18 dinner honoring the first 100 women attorneys in North Carolina.
The Committee on Women in the Profession debuted the new book, The Changing Face of Justice: A Look at the First 100 Women Attorneys in North Carolina, which features profiles of each attorney. Hazel Siler Mull Cole, 97, one of the four surviving first 100 women attorneys, attended the event.
The event attracted a crowd of 450 people. Secretary of State Elaine Marshall served as mistress of ceremonies. Marian Wright Edelman, CEO of the Children's Defense Fund, was the keynote speaker. Also on the program were Judge Allyson Duncan; Rosemary G. Kenyon, a partner with Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, who chairs the Committee on Women in the Profession; Judge Patricia M. Devine; Catherine B. Arrowood; and G. Gray Wilson, President-Elect of the North Carolina Bar Association.
