Smith Anderson Ranked in the National Law Journal 350
RALEIGH, N.C. - For the first time, Smith Anderson has landed on the National Law Journal’s annual NLJ 350 list, which identifies the largest law firms in the United States by number of lawyers. With 122 lawyers, Smith Anderson ranks #333 on the list published June 10, 2013. The Firm is the only Raleigh-based law firm and one of just four North Carolina law firms to make the list.
The National Law Journal listed some of Smith Anderson’s recent accomplishments that contributed to its growing national reputation: the Firm’s large volume of deals in 2012 – 240 worth $15 billion; its ranking as one of the top borrower-side law firms in the United States for leveraged loans by volume in 2012, according to Thomson Reuters LPC; its role assisting Quintiles Transnational Holdings Inc. in an initial public offering (IPO), one of the largest IPOs to date in 2013; and the Litigation practice’s recent $37 million jury verdict for client Plasma Centers of America.
The NLJ 350 designation arrives in a year when Smith Anderson is also celebrating its centennial anniversary. After 100 years of practicing law, Smith Anderson has grown to become the largest business and litigation law firm headquartered in the Research Triangle and one of the largest in North Carolina.
Carl Patterson, Smith Anderson’s managing partner, credits the Firm’s focus on client needs with its longevity, “We have continued to invest in talent even through difficult economic times, to make sure we have the expertise and bench strength to meet our clients’ growing needs.”
