Smith Anderson Partners Elected to State Capitol Foundation Board
Martin Brinkley and Don Munford, both partners with Smith Anderson, were recently elected to the board of directors of The State Capitol Foundation.
The Foundation was organized in 1976 to assist the State of North Carolina in maintaining and preserving the 1840 State Capitol, one of the most architecturally significant Greek Revival public buildings in the United States. Approximately 150,000 North Carolina schoolchildren and tourists visit the State Capitol each year.
The Foundation has restored and re-created furnishings, portraits, and statues in and around the Capitol. The Foundation's membership arm, the State Capitol Society, strives to increase public awareness of the Capitol’s rich history and to serve as a financial resource for ongoing restoration and educational efforts. The Foundation has produced educational videos and funds at least one Civil War living history drama each year.
Martin Brinkley practices in the areas of corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, and charitable foundations and not-for-profit organizations.
Don Munford practices in the areas of corporate and business law, estate planning and philanthropic planning. Mr. Munford is a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, where he serves as Chair of a Judiciary Committee.
