Smith Anderson Lawyers Participate in ACG Cup Competition
Raleigh, NC (January 31, 2011) - Geoff Krouse, Margaret Rosenfeld and Mike Saber, all partners at Smith Anderson, recently participated in the ACG Cup, a case study competition designed to give students from leading MBA programs across the country real world experience and invaluable insights into mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, financial advisory services and private equity. The competition is carried out through a series of intra-school and regional competitions, with regional winners awarded the prestigious ACG Cup title and cash awards. The Raleigh Durham chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) is coordinating the competition for this region.
Mr. Krouse, Mrs. Rosenfeld and Mr. Saber all participated as judges at the competitions at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, Meredith College’s School of Business and North Carolina State University’s Poole School of Management, respectively. Other regional schools competing this year include Wake Forest University’s School of Business and the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. The winning teams from each school will participate in a final competition at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel in RTP on February 26, 2011.
“This is the second year the ACG Cup has been held in the Triangle, and the support from the business community and the business schools continues to grow, which is natural given the talented students that our business schools draw,” said Geoff Krouse. “Smith Anderson is proud to be an active supporter of ACG, not just by providing our time at many levels but also by having been an annual sponsor of this strong local chapter since its formation.”
Mr. Krouse’s practice at Smith Anderson includes private equity and mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive experience representing public and private companies, investment banks and private equity firms in mergers and acquisitions and recapitalization transactions, public and private securities offerings, and general corporate matters. He has been recognized by Superlawyers as a “Rising Star” in Mergers and Acquisitions.
Mrs. Rosenfeld is President-Elect of the Raleigh Durham Chapter of ACG and will be a judge in the final competition of the ACG Cup. Her practice at Smith Anderson focuses on representation of public and private companies in handling financings, corporate governance issues and internal and external investigations in both international and domestic contexts. She is a recipient of the Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business Award and “40 under 40” award.
Mr. Saber focuses his practice on corporate transactions, including sales and purchases of private companies, financing of growth companies and general business transactions. He has been recognized for several years by his peers as a North Carolina Legal Elite lawyer, by Best Lawyers in America and by Superlawyers.
