Smith Anderson Construction Law Partners Pete Marino and Wayne Maiorano Appointed to Serve on North Carolina Bar Association Committees
Smith Anderson partners Pete Marino and Wayne Maiorano both recently were selected to serve on two prestigious committees of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA).
Mr. Marino continues service as a member of the NCBA Construction Section/Carolina's Association of General Contractors Joint Committee. This important committee comprised of well-respected Construction lawyers and North Carolina general contractors, including the leadership of the Carolinas AGC, meet to address substantive issues that impact the growing North Carolina construction industry.
Mr. Maiorano serves on the NCBA Design Professionals Liaison Committee, which focuses on critical issues that relate to construction design and development. Both Mr. Marino and Mr. Maiorano practice Construction Law. Mr. Marino chairs Smith Anderson's Construction group. His practice includes all facets of construction law arising out of public and private projects. He has extensive experience in representing owners, developers, general contractors, sureties, design professionals and large sub-contractors on a wide variety of construction matters. His experience includes development and construction-related contract drafting, negotiation and review, lien licensing and permitting issues, claims administration, surety matters, and he regularly handles owner-contractor-subcontractor disputes. He is the current elected Chair of the NCBA Construction Section and has served as the Managing Editor and as a Co-Author of the second, third and fourth editions of the North Carolina Construction Law Deskbook.
Mr. Maiorano is experienced in representing clients in complex commercial disputes, all facets of construction litigation, including disputes arising out of public and private projects, surety litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and construction industry professional malpractice actions. He has extensive experience in representing sureties, owners, developers, general contractors and sub-contractors on a wide variety of construction disputes. Mr. Maiorano also served as an Editor and Co-Author of the North Carolina Construction Law Deskbook, with specific focus on design-related content.
