Smith Anderson Boosts IP Litigation Team by Welcoming Trial and Patent Attorney Kelsey Nix
Smith Anderson, the largest law firm headquartered in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina, announced that it has hired accomplished intellectual property attorney Kelsey Nix, who will join the firm as partner and co-lead its Intellectual Property Litigation practice. Kelsey is an experienced trial lawyer and has spent 23 years as a partner at international law firms in New York City, counseling companies on complex patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark cases – and more than 30 years litigating patent infringement cases.
“Kelsey brings a distinct skill set to this market, having an extensive IP background in big law and years of experience in high-stakes patent litigation,” said Byron Kirkland, Managing Partner of Smith Anderson. “We are thrilled to have a proven leader join the team to lead our burgeoning IP practice, and one who has led on so many levels, not just in sophisticated IP litigation work, but in leading others to success.”
He has litigated IP matters in federal courts throughout the United States, in the U.S. International Trade Commission and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in a wide range of technologies. He has counseled private equity, venture and hedge funds on strategic IP issues and represented their portfolio companies in litigation.
Kelsey regularly publishes on patent and trade secrets issues, including annual white papers on key patent and trade secrets court decisions, and has lectured at patent and trade secret conferences.
