Smith Anderson Announces the Addition of Amy D. McConkey to its Public and Government Affairs Team
Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, LLP (Smith Anderson) is pleased to announce that Amy D. McConkey has joined the Firm's Public and Government Affairs team this week as a Legislative Assistant, reporting to practice chair B. Davis (Dave) Horne, Jr.
Ms. McConkey will have primary responsibility to work closely with Firm lawyers to advance the public and government affairs goals of Firm clients. Her diverse duties will include acting as liaison between Firm lawyers and clients to keep them apprised of legislation and important initiatives; conducting research; monitoring the status of critical legislation of importance to clients; generating status reports; and working collaboratively with other Firm departments to accomplish client objectives.
"We are very pleased that Amy has joined our team," said practice chair Dave Horne. Firm lawyer, Dana Simpson concurred adding "Amy's diverse experience and background will provide tremendous value to our Firm, team and most importantly, our public and government affairs clients."
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Political Science and Journalism, Ms. McConkey's prior professional experience afforded her frequent interaction with state officials, the media and prominent business leaders. She previously worked as a reporter for the North Carolina State Watch (now The Insider) and as Education Director for the North Carolina Bankers Association.
Ms. McConkey joins a well-respected Public and Government Affairs team which includes both Mr. Horne and Mr. Simpson, both of whom recently received the honor of selection for the 2005-2006 list of The Most Influential Lobbyists in the 2005 North Carolina General Assembly, as published by The North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research.
