Shawn Parker Re-Elected to Federation of State Medical Boards’ Board of Directors
The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) has re-elected Smith Anderson attorney and North Carolina Medical Board (NCMB) Public Member, Shawn Parker, to serve a three-year term as a director-at-large on its Board of Directors. In this role of helping the Nation’s state medical boards shape the future of medical regulation, Shawn will expand his influence to develop policy at the national level and provide guidance and resources for state medical boards in order to achieve common goals – public protection and access to quality healthcare.
The FSMB plays a crucial role in advocating for federal and state policies that positively impact the health and safety of patients and the medical regulatory system. The FSMB is a national non-profit organization that represents the 70 state medical and osteopathic regulatory boards within the United States, its territories and the District of Columbia. It supports its member boards as they fulfill their mandate of protecting the public’s health, safety and welfare through the proper licensing, disciplining and regulation of physicians and other health care professionals.
At Smith Anderson, Shawn focuses his practice on health care, where he advises clients on health care policy, legislative advocacy, executive strategy and regulatory guidance concerning business planning for organized medicine. Shawn has dedicated his career to public service and to the health care industry and has seen first-hand the issues facing clinicians, patients, employers, medical institutions and medical regulators.
