R. Donavon Munford, Jr. Elected to NC Center for Public Policy Research Board of Directors
RALEIGH, N.C. – R. Donavon Munford, Jr., a lawyer with Smith Anderson’s Tax and Estate Planning and Commercial Transactions Practice Groups, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research (the Center), based in Raleigh. The Center is one of six independent, non-partisan policy and research centers in the country. It is dedicated to creating a better informed public, and more effective, accountable, and responsible government. The Center identifies public policy issues affecting North Carolina and, based on its research, makes recommendations for improving the way government serves the people of the state. Mr. Munford is a former member of the North Carolina House of Representatives where he served as a Judiciary Committee Chair and on the Finance Committee.
Mr. Munford has over 30 years of experience advising companies and individuals on legal and tax matters that arise from business operations. In addition, he regularly advises individuals on estate tax savings techniques and charitable planned giving opportunities. His recent work has also included assisting public charities with their compliance and reporting requirements.
