Mike Mitchell Appointed to the North Carolina General Statutes Commission

Raleigh, N.C. – Smith Anderson Partner Mike Mitchell was recently appointed by Governor Pat McCrory to serve on the North Carolina General Statutes Commission.

Mike begins his two-year term with more than 20 years of trial and appellate experience in state and federal courts. He has extensive experience managing all types of complex business disputes, including intellectual property litigation. He is regularly recognized by his peers in The Best Lawyers in America®, Benchmark Litigation, and North Carolina Super Lawyers.

The Commission studies state laws in order to gauge the need for statutory changes, giving special focus to Uniform and Model Acts as recommended by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws, the American Law Institute, and other national legal organizations. Members of the Commission are responsible for assessing matters related to the North Carolina Statutes and are authorized to recommend proposed law changes to the General Assembly.
