Merrill Mason Presents at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Kenan Flagler’s “Launching the Venture” Program for MBA Students
RALEIGH, N.C. – On February 18, 2013, Merrill Mason, Smith Anderson partner, delivered a presentation entitled “Legal Issues for Start-ups” as part of the “Launching the Venture” program offered to MBA students by the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. The four-phased program is intended to help students launch new ventures by providing them with feedback from accomplished business leaders, faculty members and proven entrepreneurs.
As part of his presentation, Merrill revealed the legal issues that start-up businesses face and offered practice advice. Some of the topics in Merrill’s presentation included the role of the corporate lawyer, start-up formation, choice of entity, process of incorporation, among others.
With extensive experience representing technology and life sciences companies, Merrill represents entrepreneurial and emerging enterprises. Passionate about working with developing entrepreneurs and law students, Merrill has taught as an adjunct instructor at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and the University of North Carolina School of Law.
