Martin Brinkley and Caryn McNeill Among 24 Lawyers Honored for Their Pro Bono Efforts
Smith Anderson partners, Martin Brinkley and Caryn McNeill, received recognition for their pro bono contributions at a luncheon today sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association and Business Leader Media. Twenty-four total lawyers were selected for recognition based on a peer and business community nomination process.
Mr. Brinkley and Ms. McNeill recently co-chaired the successful 4ALL Task Force, an initiative of the North Carolina Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Foundation to address systemic problems relating to the provision of legal services to poor North Carolinians. The initiative culminated in the recent 4ALL Public Service Day on April 4th, where lawyers from around the state fielded phone calls and answered questions from North Carolinians. More than 700 volunteer lawyers located at eight different call centers across North Carolina served almost 7,000 callers. Additionally, other NCBA groups, bar organizations and law firms sponsored pro bono projects on April 4th. In total, 1,034 lawyers provided legal services for free on that day.
Martin Brinkley is a general business lawyer. Caryn McNeill concentrates her practice in the areas of employee benefits and compensation.
