Kimberly Swintosky and Bill Nelson Serve on the 2012 J. Nelson Young Tax Institute Planning Committee

RALEIGH, N.C. – Smith Anderson attorneys Kimberly Swintosky and Bill Nelson recently served on the Planning Committee of the 2012 J. Nelson Young Tax Institute, which was held on April 26-27 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The Tax Institute is an annual continuing professional education program for lawyers and accountants sponsored by University of North Carolina School of Law. Speakers at the Tax Institute included leading academics and practitioners from around the country. The Institute has become one of the premier programs of its kind in the Southeast. As part of the Planning Committee, Ms. Swintosky and Mr. Nelson were responsible for planning the program, selecting speakers, and promoting the Institute.

Ms. Swintosky’s principal areas of practice are federal and state income, gift and estate taxation, corporate, limited liability company and partnership law, mergers and acquisitions, general business and contract law. Ms. Swintosky is a North Carolina Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. Nelson practices in the areas of federal, state and local tax planning and advocacy for businesses and tax-exempt entities. He also advises privately-held companies in corporate law matters and business transactions. His diverse experience includes planning and structuring corporate acquisitions and tax-free reorganizations, tax planning for private equity funds, advising partnerships and limited liability companies, general tax planning for businesses, and international tax planning.
