Kim Korando Quoted in H1N1 Article in the Triangle Business Journal
Raleigh, NC (November 19, 2009) – Kim Korando, Leader of Smith Anderson’s Employment, Labor and Human Resources practice group, was quoted in an article in the November 13, 2009 edition of the Triangle Business Journal. The title of the article is “Proliferation of H1N1 Flu Poses Challenges for Employers.”
Korando explains that employers are reassessing their procedures for requiring doctor’s notes after long absences in light of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidance that employers not require such return to work notes. “For a lot of employers, that advice is out of their comfort zones,” says Korando. “Some clients don’t change that policy, but with regard to flu-related illness…they say, we will waive our requirement of getting a well note from a doctor.”
Korando’s practice includes counseling employers in a variety of industries on best practices and legal compliance in preparing for and dealing with the flu outbreak.
