James K. Dorsett, III Elected To Board of Directors of the American Counsel Association
RALEIGH (September 28, 2001) -- James K. Dorsett, III was recently elected to a three-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Counsel Association (ACA) at its annual meeting in Chicago.
Organized in 1929, the ACA is comprised of attorneys from the United States, Canada and England to enhance the standards of law practice, promote professional responsibility, and assist law students in preparing for the general practice.
A partner with Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P., Dorsett practices in the area of civil litigation with a concentration in business and commercial cases including products liability.
Long active in the legal community, Dorsett is Vice-President of the North Carolina State Bar and served two terms as a Director of the Wake County Bar Association. In March 2001, he was elected to the Board of Directors of International Society of Barristers. Dorsett is also a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, Defense Research Institute and American Bar Association. In 1997 he was elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Dorsett is a graduate of Davidson College and the Wake Forest University School of Law. He lives in Raleigh with his wife and four children.
