Industry Organizations Tap into Wayne Maiorano’s Knowledge of Changes to NC Lien Law

RALEIGH, N.C. - With the recent changes to North Carolina’s Lien Law, Smith Anderson partner Wayne Maiorano has used his knowledge of the law to help businesses prepare and protect themselves. At two recent events, Wayne spoke with audiences within the construction industry on how changes to the law are reshaping the industry and affecting their businesses.

On May 8, 2013, Wayne met with the Carolinas Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors and participated in its Workforce Development Lien Law Changes Panel to discuss “Working with the New Mechanics Liens and Payment Bond Laws.” The organization strives to help its members - comprised of contractors, suppliers, and industry professionals - with work safety, ethics and profitability.

At a meeting of the Construction Management Association of America on May 16, 2013, Wayne served as part of another panel of experts on North Carolina’s Lien Law. Wayne and the other panelists identified every aspect of a business that is affected and walked through the steps toward protecting those businesses from the implications of not complying with the new guidelines.
