Dorsett Elected President-Elect of the American Counsel Association
James K. Dorsett, III, was recently elected President-Elect of the American Counsel Association (ACA) at its annual meeting in Atlanta. He previously served a three-year term as a member of the ACA Board of Directors.
Organized in 1929, the ACA is comprised of attorneys from the United States, Canada, and England to enhance the standards of law practice, promote professional responsibility, and assist law students in preparing for the general practice.
Dorsett is a partner with Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell & Jernigan, L.L.P., in Raleigh, North Carolina. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, products liability defense, and personal injury litigation.
Dorsett has long been active in service to the legal community. He is currently serving as a Delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates, and as Immediate Past President of the North Carolina State Bar. In 2003, he was elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is an active member of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association, where he served two terms as a Director. Dorsett also served as a State Bar Councilor for nine years in addition to his tenure as an officer.
