David Hayden Hits the Speaker Circuit to Share Key Lessons in Government Contracting

RALEIGH, N.C. – Smith Anderson attorney David Hayden regularly speaks to members of the business community on government contracting and other legal issues. This fall, he hit the speaker circuit to share the knowledge he has gained through his extensive experience in government contracting, corporate investigations (internal and government), as well as employment law. 

Mr. Hayden served as a Panelist on bid protests at the Strategic Consulting Solutions 2012 Annual Government Contracting Seminar at Wake Technical Community College on October 25. He addressed practical lessons he had learned in previous bid protests, and recent decisions on bid protests from the United States Government Accountability Office and federal courts. Strategic Consulting Solutions specializes in support for government contractors in the areas of general accounting, complete accounting outsourcing, software sales and system implementations, training, finance, government contract compliance support and contract administration.

In conjunction with the periodic meeting of the Research Triangle Park Chapter of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), Mr. Hayden delivered a seminar entitled “It is Easy to Avoid Ethics, but Impossible to Escape the Consequences … and Other Lessons for Government Contractors.” The presentation took place at the main Campus of Fayetteville Technical Community College on November 8 to a crowd of professionals in the field of contract management. The NCMA has over 22,000 members and is dedicated to the professional growth and educational advancement of procurement and acquisition personnel worldwide.

A retired Army Colonel, Mr. Hayden spoke to the Military Law Student Association at the Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law on November 9 about the subject of Veterans’ Day. Mr. Hayden discussed the importance of Veterans’ Day based on his own 29 years of military service, including a year spent in Afghanistan during the Global War on Terror.

Mr. Hayden more recently spoke to a crowd of 40 government contractors and accounting professionals at the 17th Annual Government Contracting Update, Dixon Hughes Goodman Seminar, on November 15 in Research Triangle Park. His presentation focused on “New Developments in Government Contracting.” Mr. Hayden was joined in the presentation by Mr. Gregg Funkhouser, Partner-in-Charge of Government Contracting Services for Dixon Hughes Goodman.
