City of Raleigh Designates July 6 as "Day of Appreciation for Lacy Reaves," in Honor of Smith Anderson Attorney
The City of Raleigh has honored Smith Anderson attorney Lacy Reaves for almost three decades of service on the city’s Civil Service Commission. Established in 1935 by the North Carolina General Assembly, the commission hears appeals from City of Raleigh employees who have exhausted all administrative channels regarding violations of city policy in relation to suspensions, layoffs, firings, promotions and forfeiture of pay. Lacy has presided over more than 150 cases from city employees. He was appointed to the commission in 1992 and has served as chair ever since.
Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin presented a resolution designating July 6 as "Day of Appreciation for Lacy Reaves," citing his 29 years on the commission, which also recommends action to the city council concerning the adoption of personnel rules and regulations.
At Smith Anderson, Lacy brings decades of experience to his representation of developers, landowners and others in rezoning cases, obtaining development approvals and handling the myriad of complex issues that arise in the development and use of real estate. Lacy practices in the areas of land use, zoning, municipal law and commercial real estate and is one of the top Zoning and Land Use attorneys in North Carolina.
For seven consecutive years, Chambers USA, one of the world’s leading research, analytics and rankings agencies for the legal profession, has named Lacy a “Star Individual” for receiving exceptional recommendations in the field of Real Estate: Zoning/Land Use law. This is the highest and rarest ranking an individual is awarded by Chambers USA. In addition, Best Lawyers® has honored Lacy numerous times as “Lawyer of the Year” in Real Estate Law and Land Use and Zoning Law.
