City of Raleigh Designates July 6 as "Day of Appreciation for Lacy Reaves," in Honor of Smith Anderson Attorney

The City of Raleigh has honored Smith Anderson attorney Lacy Reaves for almost three decades of service on the city’s Civil Service Commission. Established in 1935 by the North Carolina General Assembly, the commission hears appeals from City of Raleigh employees who have exhausted all administrative channels regarding violations of city policy in relation to suspensions, layoffs, firings, promotions and forfeiture of pay. Lacy has presided over more than 150 cases from city employees. He was appointed to the commission in 1992 and has served as chair ever since.

Raleigh Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin presented a resolution designating July 6 as "Day of Appreciation for Lacy Reaves," citing his 29 years on the commission, which also recommends action to the city council concerning the adoption of personnel rules and regulations.
