Catherine Kimberley Receives Young Lawyer of the Year Award from the North Carolina Bar Association
Raleigh (June 2009) – Catherine Kimberley, a member of Smith Anderson’s Labor and Employment Practice Group, was presented with the Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Young Lawyer’s Division (YLD) of the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA). The presentation was made at the NCBA Annual Meeting at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC.
Kimberley was presented the award by outgoing chair of the YLD, Patti Ramseur. During the presentation Ramseur mentioned Kimberley’s achievements which include work as co-chair of the Pro Bono/Poverty Issues Committee which, under Kimberley’s leadership, conducted legal seminars and panel discussions at the Women’s Resource Center in Greensboro, the Helping Hand Mission in Raleigh and at Ardmore Baptist Church in Winston Salem. In addition, through Kimberley’s leadership, this committee worked with Youth Focus in Greensboro to implement an e-mentor program for the children in therapeutic foster care.
In addition, under Kimberley’s guidance, Smith Anderson came in second in the state in the YLD’s Legal Feeding Frenzy for the Food Bank of North Carolina.
