Bill Nelson Named to Board of Advisors of the UNC Tax Institute
Smith Anderson partner, Bill Nelson, has been named to the Board of Advisors of the University of North Carolina (UNC) Tax Institute.
Hosted annually by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Law, the Tax Institute provides tax lawyers with comprehensive information about current developments in federal tax law. UNC will host this year’s Tax Institute on April 24-25, 2008 at the UNC George Watts Alumni Center. The Board of Advisors is comprised of well-respected North Carolina tax professionals and academics.
A tax lawyer for over 20 years, Mr. Nelson received both his undergraduate degree and J.D. (with high honors) from the University of North Carolina. His diverse experience includes tax planning for complex corporate acquisitions, tax-free reorganizations, and divestitures; forming and advising joint ventures and private equity funds; international tax planning and providing tax and business law advice to limited partnerships and limited liability companies. He has written and spoken on a variety of federal and state tax topics, including co-authoring the CCH Guidebook to North Carolina Taxesand its annual updates.
