American Counsel Association Announces Scholarship Named for James K. Dorsett, III
RALEIGH, N.C. – At its annual meeting in Chicago, the American Counsel Association (ACA) established a new scholarship in honor of Smith Anderson partner James K. Dorsett, III. Mr. Dorsett previously served the ACA as president and as secretary-treasurer. The Cohn-Dorsett Scholarship, also named in honor of past ACA president Stanley Cohn of New Orleans, will be awarded annually to a law student who exhibits high academic achievement, public service and financial need.
About James K. Dorsett, III
Mr. Dorsett practices in the areas of commercial, tort and insurance litigation. His recent work has involved the representation of corporations in contract and covenant not to compete cases, the defense of manufacturers in products liability actions, and parties in claims regarding estates. Mr. Dorsett also represents property owners in appeals from excessive tax valuations. A certified mediator, his work extends to alternative dispute resolution and counseling.
