Alan Parry Co-Authors Article in ABA Coverage Journal
RALEIGH, N.C. – Smith Anderson partner Alan Parry co-authored an article for the November/December 2011 edition of Coverage, a journal published by the American Bar Association’s Committee on Insurance Coverage Litigation (“ICLC”). The article is entitled “One More Thing to Keep Directors and Officers Awake at Night: Dodd-Frank’s Impact on D&O Insurance.”
The article describes some of the potential D&O coverage issues that may arise as a result of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. While the full impact of the Dodd-Frank Act is uncertain, it is expected to increase the exposure of corporate directors and officers to SEC enforcement actions and civil litigation. Its provisions also raise serious coverage questions under D&O insurance policies currently on the market.
The Coverage journal is the official publication of the ICLC, which is one of the largest and most active committees in the ABA Section of Litigation. The ICLC has over 2,400 members nationwide.
Mr. Parry is a commercial litigation partner who has broad experience in complex commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including substantial experience litigating insurance coverage disputes and counseling clients regarding insurance coverage issues. He is the leader of the Firm’s Insurance Recovery Litigation and Counseling practice group, and a co-chair of the ICLC’s Excess & Umbrella Subcommittee.
Mr. Parry co-authored the article with Eric G. Barber, a lawyer in Perkins Coie LLP’s Insurance Coverage Litigation Group in Madison, Wisconsin.
